How to exit the port in Lisbon

During your cruise stopover in Lisbon, you will be happy to know that the main docking docks are all located close to each other, simplifying your travels. Four terminals make up the Lisbon cruise port: Alcantara, Rocha Conde Obidos, Jardim Tabaco and Santa Apolonia (the latter being the dock where most boats dock). They are all located along the Tagus River, which allows cruise ships to dock right in the city center.

The port is strategically placed near metro and bus stations, making exploring the city extremely convenient.

Take this opportunity to discover the wonders of Lisbon, in particular by visiting the magnificent Palace of Sintra, a true palette of colors and splendor and between us my favorite in Lisbon.

To reach the heart of the city you can go there on foot. However, I highly recommend opting for the famous Lisbon tram. This scenic experience is both unique and economical, allowing you to appreciate the scenery while you get around.

If you prefer the flexibility of the Hop-on Hop-off concept, see the corresponding link for more information.

What to do in Lisbon on a cruise stopover?

When you disembark in Lisbon for a cruise stopover, there is so much to discover! Here are the most interesting ones for me.

Cruise stopover in Lisbon

Sintra Palace

Explore the Palace of Sintra without any worries. When you book your tour, the starting point is at Jardin Amália Rodrigues in Lisbon. In just 45 minutes by minibus you will reach this 14th century gem. Perched in the heights, this palace offers an architecture that is both rich and varied, skillfully mixing Gothic and Moorish elements. Inside, let yourself be seduced by the luxurious atmosphere of the richly decorated rooms and elaborately hand-painted ceilings. A truly sumptuous experience not to be missed!

To get to Sintra Palace you have two options:

  • By minibus. The journey is included in the ticket price . This is how I went there during my visit.
  • By taxi. Count around 45 euros for a 30 km journey.

Choose the mode of transport that suits you best and set off to discover this 14th century gem!
